About GOTS
GOTS stands for more than just organic cotton; it guarantees that the entire production chain is carefully monitored. This means you can trust that the fabrics are produced in an environmentally conscious and socially responsible manner. GOTS certification ensures that the cotton is organically grown, without the use of genetically modified seeds or harmful pesticides. During production, no harmful chemicals such as chlorine, toxic heavy metals, or dyes are used. Additionally, labor conditions are strictly regulated, with a focus on fair wages, a ban on forced or child labor, and safe and hygienic working environments. Waste and production water are also strictly managed to prevent environmental damage.
GOTS-Certified cotton at Verhees Textiles
At Verhees Textiles, we place great importance on sustainability and believe that everyone can contribute. That’s why we offer an expanding range of GOTS-certified cotton. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is an international certification that guarantees not only organic cotton but also environmentally friendly and socially responsible products. Our GOTS-certified items are produced organically and have undergone rigorous inspection. This means that our jerseys and sweats consist of at least 95% organically grown cotton, while our poplin and double gauze are made from 100% organic cotton!

Promoting with GOTS
As a company, you also want to benefit from GOTS certification. GOTS has strict rules for this purpose. Below you will find more information. Each entity in this chain is responsible for correctly applying the GOTS logo. For more information, visit the GOTS website or email us!
Business-to-Business
As a (wholesale) trader with a GOTS turnover of less than €20,000 per year, you are not required to have your own certificate, but you must register with a certification body such as Control Union. If your GOTS turnover exceeds €20,000 per year, you are required to apply for your own certificate as soon as possible.
Business-to-Consumer
As a retailer, you do not need to apply for your own certificate if your customers purchase the fabrics directly from your store. Of course, you can always apply for your own certificate if you wish. If you have a store and do not have your own certificate, you must use the certification number CU 1010800 in combination with the GOTS logo for your promotion. You can find this logo in the webshop under your account in the 'Remaining Downloads' section, then select the GOTS folder under 'Certificates'. Without using the logo and certification number, you may only use the term 'organic cotton'. If you have a webshop, you must always have your own certificate to promote with GOTS, in accordance with GOTS packaging requirements. However, you may still use the term 'organic cotton' in your promotion.
Manufacturers
As a manufacturer, you may only promote or refer to products as 'certified' with GOTS if you have your own certification number. Without your own certificate, you may still use the term 'organic cotton' in sales.
